Hyundai Motor India on Monday hiked prices on the very popular Santro line-up that now starts at Rs 4.15 lakh for the base trim. It is to be noted that the automaker has discontinued the D-Lite and Era variants of Santro. While the entry-level Santro D-Lite was priced at Rs 3.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the next-in-line Santro Era was available for Rs 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This means the Santro now has Era Executive as the lowest trim, with the price starting at Rs 4.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, the prices on the mid and higher-spec terims remain unchanged.
Launched in October last year, the new Hyundai Santro is now available in four variants i.e. Era Executive, Magna, Sportz and Asta. Hyundai Santro Era Executive, which is now the base model of hatchback, gets a 1.1-litre, four-cylinder, 12-valve petrol engine that churns out 69 PS and 99 Nm of torque. The engine is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox with an option for an AMT.
Also, there is a 1.1-litre bi-fuel (petrol with CNG) variant which produces 59 PS and 84 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
It comes equipped with general features including body-coloured bumpers, dual tone beige and black interior, 6.35 cm advanced multi-information display, power steering, manual AC, front power windows, driver-side airbag, ABS with EBD and child safety door locks.
Talking particularly about Hyundai Santro Era Executive trim, it offers a mix of features from the D-Lite and Era variants. It gets a number of essentials including front power windows, HVAC unit, body-coloured bumpers, all of which were missing on the bare bones D-Lite trim.
Hyundai Santro Era Executive trim is equipped with only 1.1-litre, four-cylinder, 12-valve petrol engine in manual transmission. It is worth mentioning here that neither Santro Era Executive has an AMT option, nor it is available in 1.1-litre bi-fuel variant.
