Jeep is most trusted automobile brand in India: Report

According to the Brand Trust Report 2019 by TRA, Jeep is the most trusted automobile brand (four-wheeler manufacturer) in India. Following Jeep is the country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki.

It is to be noted that the jeep vehicles are manufactured by FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) India. The brand's line-up in India consists of Jeep Compass, Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

According to the report, Compass is the largest selling Jeep SUV in India. Powered by 1.4-litre Multiair petrol engine, Compass produces 163 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and has an option for a 7-speed automatic transmission also. There is a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine as well which churns out 173 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Currently, Jeep Compass is available in five variants i.e. Sport, Sport Plus, Longitude, Limited and Limited Plus. The price ranges between 15.60 lakh and Rs 23.11 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi). Jeep Wrangler has a starting price of Rs 58.74 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while Jeep Grand Cherokee is available for Rs 78.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Importantly, Jeep Compass Trailhawk India is expected to be launched in India in July this year.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki line-up also includes some of the country's largest selling cars like Alto, WagonR, Swift, Dzire, Vitara Brezza, Baleno and Ciaz.

Recently, Maruti Suzuki Baleno had breached 6 lakh cumulative sales mark in just 44 months. Baleno was launched in October 2015. However, Maruti Suzuki India's monthly sales had declined 22 per cent to 1,34,641 units in May this year.

As per the report, Maruti Suzuki India is followed by Hyundai at the third spot, Ford at fourth and Honda at fifth. Other four-wheeler manufacturers in the top ten are Tata Motors at sixth position, Toyota at seventh, Mahindra & Mahindra at eigth, Nissan at ninth and Hindustan Motors at tenth.
