New Delhi:

Mahindra Truck and Bus on Tuesday officially kick-started the sale of its new Furio range of intermediate trucks in the India market. The new Furio 12 tonne has been priced at Rs 17.45 lakh and Furio 14 tonne at Rs 18.10 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Pune). The new Furio range of intermediate trucks has been designed by Pininfarina, a Mahindra-owned Italian design house.

Earlier, Mahindra had announced to have invested Rs 600 crore in the development of new Furio range of intermediate trucks. The company has been working on the trucks since 2014. It took 500 engineers and close to 180 suppliers to develop the Furio. The trucks were manufactured in Mahindra’s Chakan plant near Pune in Maharashtra.

The company is aiming to take on the rivals Eicher and Tata Motors with its Furio range, positioned just below the Blazo range of trucks. The new Mahindra Furio trucks are designed to offer efficiency and comfort without compromising the performance.

The Mahindra Furio range trucks are powered by the new MDI Tech diesel engine that churns out 138 bhp at 2400 rpm and 500 Nm of peak torque. To optimize the fuel consumption, the new trucks come with Mahindra’s FuelSmart technology.

The company claimed that it has tested the Furio range of ICVs for over 17 lakh km under rigorous highway durability conditions, which was equivalent to 10 years of vehicle service life.

“It offers better comfort with modular sleeping berths for the driver and co-driver along with 8-way air flow outlet making the cabin 5-degrees cooler. Also, it's been designed to make 60 per cent less noise and 40 per cent less vibration,” according to a report published in the car and bikes.

Moreover, it also has got some segment first equipment like fog lamps and cornering lamps and Mahindra is also offering 5 years or 5,00,000 km warranty and 5 years or 5,00,000 km AMC maintenance guarantee on the Furio range.
