Maruti Suzuki has now decided to discontinue the base variants of both petrol and diesel variants of its popular MPV Ertiga. The dealerships across the country has stopped accepting pre-orders for the LXI and LDI models.

As per a report by CarsAndBike, the reason for such move is still unknown and the company has also declined to comment on the topic.

However, inventories for the LXI and LDI variants is still in abundance in many cities. Since the launch of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, 30 per cent of the sales figures has been for the VXI and VDI variants while the ZXI and ZDI variants along with the V variants constitute almost 50 per cent of the sales.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga comes with a 1462cc petrol engine with 77kW of power @ 6000rpm and 138 Nm of torque @ 4400rpm and 1248cc diesel engine with 66kW of power @ 4000rpm and 200 Nm of 1750rpm.

The engine is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission, however, the petrol variant comes with an automatic transmission option.

The front brakes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga comes with ventilated disc brakes while at the rear it has leading and trailing drum.

On safety front, Ertiga comes with dual airbag, ABS with EBD and brake assist, seat belt reminder, central locking, rear parking sensors, speed sensitive auto door lock, high speed alert system, ISOFIX child seat anchorages and front fog lamps.

Prices of Maruti Ertiga will now begin from Rs 816,000 to Rs 995,000 for the petrol variants and Rs 956,000 to Rs 1090,000 for the diesel variants. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
