Indian automaker Maruti Suzuki has launched two new CNG variants of Wagon R in the Indian market. These CNG variants will be available only in the base Lxi and Lxi (O) variants starting at a price of Rs 5.51 lakh and Rs 5.56 lakh (on-road, Delhi) respectively.
Recently, the company launched the third generation of Maruti Suzuki Wagon R on January 23 in two engine variants of 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol motors.
The 1.2-litre K12M engine has been installed in Wagon R which can produce 82 bhp of power @ 6000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque @ 4200 rpm. When the first generation of Wagon R was launched, the company gave it 1.1-litre engine which was later reduced to 1.0-litre in the second generation.
The buyers surely felt lack of power in the current 1.0-litre engine but the all-new 1197cc four-cylinder petrol engine gives more punch to its power strength.
However, the CNG variant will be available in the 1.0-litre engine model which produces 68 PS of power and 90Nm of torque when on fuel while it is on CNG it will produce 59 PS of power and 78 Nm of torque. The engine is mated with a five-speed manual transmission and can also give a mileage of 33.5 km per kg.
On safety front, the all-new Wagon R comes with driver’s airbag as standard along with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), a speed alert system (beeps at a speed of 80kmph), rear parking sensors and a seat-belt reminder.
The all-new Wagon R CNG will be in direct competition with Hyundai Santro CNG and even Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG.
