Tesla Model 3: Elon Musk unveils company's first mass-market sedan

New Delhi:

The most valuable electric car maker in America, Tesla has rolled out its new Model 3 sedan in a ceremony on Friday in California. The vehicle is designed to attain the highest safety ratings in every category. It achieves 220 miles of range while starting at only $35,000 before incentives.

CEO Elon Musk said the Model 3 was the "best car for its cost, either electric or gasoline". The first 30 vehicles will be delivered to Tesla employees at the company's Fremont factory.

A longer-range version of the car is priced at $44,000 and will drive 310 miles (500 km) on a single charge. The cars feature a streamlined dashboard devoid of buttons or knobs, with a touchstream display to the right of the driver.

The Model 3 adds up to Musk’s broader strategy to build a clean energy and transportation company that offers electric semi trucks, rooftop solar energy systems and large-scale battery storage systems.
