On June 11, Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro was launched in India. It is to be noted that Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro is equipped with a powerful engine and latest chassis with better ride quality both on and off the road. It replaces the Multistrada 1200 Enduro and is a more off-road focussed version of the standard Multistrada 1260. In the Indian market, it rivals against BMW R 1250 GS Adventure and the Triumph Tiger 1200 XCx. Both BMW R 1250 GS Adventure and the Triumph Tiger 1200 XCx are the off-road focussed models in their respective range as well.

Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro

Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro is powered by the latest Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine. The 1,262 cc motor churns out 158 hp and 128 Nm of peak torque.

It also gets the standard Ducati Quick Shift Up and Down (DQS). Further, the exhaust and intake systems of the bike have been redesigned.

The adventure tourer gets a redesigned chassis with reduced suspension travel. It now comes equipped with 185 mm travel for both the wheels.

The motorcycle comes packed with a semi-active suspension that is controlled by the Ducati Skyhook Suspension Evolution (DSS) system and can be set to 400 different configurations.

Also, there are standard Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres in both the front (19-inch) and rear (17-inch) tyres.

It gets full-LED headlight and a high-resolution colour TFT instrument panel.

The newly-designed HMI (Human Machine Interface) is easy to use. The bike also has features like cruise control, hands-free startup and backlit handlebar switches.

On the safety front, it carries features like Ducati traction control, Ducati wheelie control and vehicle hold control in Multistrada 1260 Enduro.

The bike also gets the Brembo braking system fitted with the ABS 9.1ME cornering device. It comes with a 30-litre fuel tank and a claimed range of 450 kms.

BMW R 1250 GS Adventure

BMW R 1250 GS Adventure comes with a larger 30-litre fuel tank, standard crash protection and off-road spec cross spoked wheels.

The R 1250 GS Adventure gets a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT display with Smartphone connectivity which shows the rider everything about the motorcycle as well as navigation, music and telephone connectivity.

BMW R 1250 GS Adventure gets the new 1,254 cc boxer twin engine which churns out 136 bhp at 7750 rpm and 143 Nm at 6250 rpm.

It sports a cast aluminium wheels with a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear and gets the BMW Motorrad telelever suspension at the front with 37 mm stanchion diameter. At the rear, the R 1250 GS gets paralever suspension with spring pre-load and rebound damping adjustability.

With the optional Riding Modes Pro, the range of applications of the R 1250 GS Adventure can be further extended and adapted to different riding situations and purposes.

The control behaviour of ABS, dynamic traction control and suspension compensation Dynamic ESA in the motorcycle are adjustable.

Six different seat versions, from the standard seat to the rally seat to the comfort seat with seat heights ranging from 800 to 900 mm are available.

The bike costs from Rs 18.25 to Rs 21.95 lakh (Ex-showroom Price, Delhi).

Triumph Tiger 1200 XCx

Triumph Tiger 1200 comes only in one variant - the XCx and it is priced at Rs. 17 lakh (Ex-showroom, New Delhi).

It is an upgraded 2018 Tiger 1200 range in India and has received significant changes. According to the company, the motorcycle has got over a 100 new updates all throughout.

The 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 is powered by a 1215 cc in-line, three-cylinder engine that makes 139 bhp of max power at 9350 rpm and generates 122 Nm of peak torque at 7600 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and gets a final shaft drive instead of the regular chain drive.

It sports the updated electronics such as an optimised cornering ABS, traction control, Hill-hold assist, ride-by-wire throttle and up to six riding modes.

The bike further houses a new 5-inch fully digital instrumentation console, electrically adjustable windscreen, optional heated grips and seats as well as 12V power outlets, backlit switchgear, all LED lighting, adaptive cornering lights and an updated cruise control along with keyless ignition.
