Honda SP125 BS6 Vs Hero Splendor iSmart BS6

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) and Hero MotoCorp India, the two largest two-wheeler makers of the country, have launched their maiden products which abide the Bharat Stage VI (BS-VI or BS-6) emission regulations i.e. Honda SP125 BS6 and Hero Splendor iSmart BS6. Both Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India have claimed an improved mileage for their respective bikes. So, News Nation brings to you the comparison between Honda SP125 BS6 and Hero Splendor iSmart BS6 on the basis of their specifications, features, and prices.

Honda SP125 BS6

The BS-6 compliant Honda SP 125 comes with a new design. It gets a fully digital meter, which displays details pertaining to fuel efficiency, gear position, service, and trip, among others. Other features the motorcycle include LED DC headlamp, engine start/stop switch, integrated headlamp beam and passing switch, and chrome muffler cover.

It comes in two variants (Drum & Disc) and 4 colours - Striking Green, Mat Axis Grey Metallic, Imperial Red Metallic, and Pearl Siren Blue.

Honda SP125 gets a BS6-compliant, PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection), 125 cc engine with eSP (enhanced smart power) technology. The engine belts 10.7 bhp at 7500 rpm and develops 10.9 Nm of peak torque at 6000 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Honda SP125 BS6 sits on a diamond type frame. It gets a telescopic suspension up front and 5-step adjustable hydraulic suspension at the rear. There are 18-inch tubeless tyres. The alloy wheels have a 240 mm disc or 130 mm drum at the front and 130 mm drum at the rear. The motorcycle makes use of CBS (combi-brake system) with equalizer.

Hero Splendor iSmart BS6

Splendor iSmart BS6 makes use of a diamond frame. The motorcycle gets front forks with 120 mm travel and twin shocks at the rear. There are 18-inch tyres. Splendor iSmart BS6 comes with a 240 mm disc at the front and a 130 mm drum at the rear, while Splendor iSmart+ IBS only get 130 mm drum brakes.

The new Splendor iSmart BS6 is 2,048 mm long and 726 mm wide. Its height is 1,110 mm. Hero Splendor iSmart BS6 comes with a longer wheelbase (1,281 mm as compared to 1,245 mm of Splendor iSmart+ IBS) and higher ground clearance (180 mm against 165 mm of Splendor iSmart+ IBS).

The new Splendor iSmart BS6 comes with Hero MotoCorp's i3S start-stop technology. It also features ECU monitored fuel intake.

The new Splendor iSmart BS6 gets a 113.2 cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, PFI engine that is good for 9 hp and 9.89 Nm of peak torque. The torque is 10 per cent more than what you get in Hero Splendor iSmart+ IBS.

The new Splendor iSmart BS6 comes in three colour options i.e. Blue, Red, and Grey. There are dual-tone graphics as well. The new Splendor iSmart BS6 is priced at Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
