New Delhi:

British Premium motorcycle major Triumph Motorcycles India on Tuesday launched the new Scrambler 1200 XC in India at the price of Rs 10.73 lakh (ex-showroom).

It is to be noted that in the global market, Triumph’s Scrambler 1200 is available in two variants - the Scrambler 1200 XC and the even more extreme, top-spec Scrambler 1200 XE. However, in India, Triumph has only introduced the Scrambler 1200 XC.

“Modern classic continue to be Triumph’s largest selling motorcycles in India with a contribution of around 55% in the total volume. The all new Scrambler 1200 fills in the gap of a more capable, more stylish and the first in its class scrambler which further strengthens and completes the modern classic portfolio of Triumph in India,” Shoeb Farooq, General Manager, Triumph Motorcycles India said in a statement.

“The new Scrambler 1200 XC is a benchmark setting motorcycle that represents a first for dual-purpose capability and modern custom style. This is a genuine ‘Cross-over’ adventure capable modern classic. Modern classics segment are a stronghold of Triumph in India with clear leadership and we expect this product to further strengthen that position,” he added.

Interestingly, the Scrambler 1200 XC is the world’s first motorcycle with the integrated GoPro control system. Coming to the features of the premium motorcycle, the Scrambler 1200 XC has Triumph’s first turn-by-turn navigation system and Bluetooth phone and music operation. The Scrambler 1200 XC also offers a choice of five riding modes - Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road and a fully customisable Rider mode.

It comes packed with 1200cc Bonneville twin engine with a dedicated Scrambler tune. The Scrambler 1200 delivers 90 PS at 7,400 rpm with a torque output of 110 Nm at 3,950rpm. The Scrambler 1200 XC gets a 21-inch spoked front wheel shod with dual-sport tubeless rubber, suspended from 45 mm upside down forks, with 200 mm of suspension travel. Twin 320 mm front discs are gripped by top-spec Brembo M50 calipers. At the rear, twin Ohlins shocks also offer 200 mm of suspension travel.

On the competition front, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC will take on the Ducati Scrambler 1100 and BMW R Nine T Scrambler in India.
