On the very first day of the Auto Expo 2020 in Greater Noida, Morris Garages India (MG Motor India) has introduced its premium hatchback MG 3. It is to be noted that the MG 3 is currently sold in the United Kingdom, China, and Thailand. The MG’s car is offered in a crossover version i.e. the MG 3 XCross.

MG Motor India President Rajeev Chaba has said that the company will look into the possibility of launching the car in India based on demand. It is worth mentioning here that after the launch in India, the MG 3 hatchback will compete against Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Tata Altroz.

MG 3: Specifications & Features

As for the dimensions of the MG 3 is concerned, the hatchback is 3,999 mm long, 1,728 mm wide and 1,517 mm tall. It comes with a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. According to a report of NDTV’s carandbike, the MG 3 includes a honeycomb grille, larger sweptback headlamps and an aggressive front bumper with a large airdam and larger air intakes on either end. At the back, the hatchback includes long vertically stacked taillamps with a larger bumper with plastic cladding on the lower half.

Globally, MG 3 comes equipped only with the petrol engine option - 1.3-litre and a 1.5-litre. The 1.3-litre petrol engine churns out 92 bhp and 118 Nm of peak torque. Whereas, the 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 105 bhp and develops 137 Nm of torque. The transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual transmission.

MG Hector BS6

The automaker has recently introduced the Hector BS6 petrol in India for an introductory price of Rs 12.73 lakh. However, the top model of Hector BS6 petrol costs Rs 17.55 lakh. All prices ex-showroom, India. Hector BS6 petrol is powered by the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 143 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual and the DCT automatic. There's also the hybrid variant on sale that pairs the petrol engine with the 48 Volt electric motor.
