New Delhi:

Coronavirus pandemic has crippled the world and the situation is no different in India. However, to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), PM Modi on March 22 announced complete lockdown for 21 days i.e. till April 14. However, the lockdown has adversely affected business in the country as only essential services are allowed to operate. The automobile industry has also been affected due to the lockdown. Various automakers including Hyundai, Renault, Mahindra, Honda, Skoda, and Mercedes-Benz have delayed the launch of their upcoming cars indefinitely due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus.

List Of Cars Whose India Launch Delayed Due To Coronavirus

Hyundai Tucson Facelift

Hyundai Tucson facelift was all set to be launched in India this month. However, the launch has now been postponed due to the lockdown in India amid COVID-19 outbreak. Hyundai Tucson Facelift comes equipped with the BS6 compliant 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines. The powertrains are are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai Verna Facelift

Like Hyundai Tucson facelift, Hyundai Verna Facelift was also scheduled to be launched in India this month. However, the launch has now been postponed. Hyundai Verna Facelift comes equipped with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The powertrains come with an option of manual and automatic transmissions. Importantly, the 1.0-litre TGDi petrol unit is coupled to a 7-speed DCT.

Renault Duster 1.3 TCe Petrol

Renault Duster 1.3 TCe petrol was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo as an alternative variant to the now discontinued Duster diesel. It was supposed to be launched in India in mid March However, the launch was delayed due to COVID-19 outbreak.  

Mahindra XUV300 Sportz Edition

Mahindra XUV300 Sportz Edition was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. It was expected to go on sale in April 2020, However, the launch could now be delayed by a few weeks.

New Generation Honda City

The fifth-generation Honda City India launch was slated to take place in mid-March. However, due to COVID-19 outbreak, Honda has delayed the launch of the City in India by a few months.

Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI

The bookings for Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI has already begun in India. Deliveries were supposed to begin on April 14. However, due to lockdown, the official launch has been delayed by a few weeks. Besides the 1.0-litre TSI motor, the 2020 Rapid doesn't get any changes. The powertrain is mated to a 6-speed manual or a torque converter automatic.

Honda WR-V Facelift

The pre-bookings for Honda WR-V Facelift began a few weeks back. The launch of Honda WR-V Facelift was expected to take place this month. However, the launch of Honda WR-V Facelift has been postponed. Honda WR-V Facelift gets visual updates including redesigned bumper, new grille, LED projector headlights and LED taillights. The engine remains to be the same i.e. a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, albeit in the BS6 powertrain.
