Hyundai's i20 Elite beats Maruti Suzuki's Swift in total sales in December 2018

India’s one of the most popular and best-selling premium hatchback Maruti Suzuki Swift gets beaten by Hyundai’s i20 Elite in number of units sold in the month of December. The top three car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors registered a marginal fall in sales in the last month due to increasing fuel prices, one-time insurance payment. Several car companies offered huge discounts to clear the old stock. Swift and i20 Elite has been one of the biggest rivals in the premium range hatchback section.

Both Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i20 Elite suffered a small decline in the sale in December 2018 where i20 Elite surpassed Swift sales in the month. Hyundai sold 11940 units of i20 Elite while Maruti Suzuki sold 11790 units of Swift in last month, making i20 the number three in the list of top 10 best-selling cars in December 2018.

In the list of top 10 best-selling cars for the month of December 2018, there are seven Maruti Suzuki cars and three Hyundai cars in the Standings. Maruti Suzuki’s Alto was the best-selling car for the month of December 2018 with 25,121 units sold across the country.

In the month of December 2018, Hyundai’s i20 Elite even surpassed Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno where i20 Elite recorded a total sales of 11,940 units while Baleno’s total sales were 11,135 units last month.

The only sedan in the list of top 10 best selling cars in December is Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire with 16,797 units and the SUV in the list also comes from the same automaker which is Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza with 9667 units.
