Kia Motor India has unveiled the much-anticipated Seltos in the country. With the Seltos, Kia Motors will officially enter the Indian market. It is to be noted that the new Kia Seltos will be launched in India in August this year. In the meantime, selected Kia dealerships in India have started accepting booking for Seltos unofficially.
According to a report published in AUTOCAR, selected Kia dealerships in India have started accepting Seltos' booking orders for a token of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. AUTOCAR further quoted few dealers in the New Delhi area, where bookings were being accepted unofficially, with the booking amount set at Rs 25,000.
However, Kia Motors India is expected to announce the official commencement of bookings for the Seltos next month. The price of Seltos is expected to be between Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming SUV will be up against Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier and MG Hector in the Indian market.
Kia Seltos will come with BS VI compliant powertrain. The SUV will have an option of 1.4 litre Turbo GDI petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The Seltos will be offered with multiple automatic transmission options like IVT, 7-speed DCT and 6-speed AT and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The compact SUV will be available in normal, eco and sports drive modes.
On the features front, the mid-size SUV will have the iconic tiger-nose grille with full LED headlamps on the front. It will also come with vertically housed LED fog lamps. On the rear, the car will be equipped with LED taillights and dual exhaust pipes. Along with 17-inch five-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels, the compact SUV will come with roof rails and shark fin antenna.
Inside the cabin, the new Kia Seltos will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen audio video navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The compact SUV will also get features like 8-inch HUD (Heads Up Display), blind-spot view monitor, EPS (Electronic Power Steering), eco coating, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and push-button start/stop.
On the safety features front, the car will carry multiple airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and BA (Brake Assist), reverse parking sensors and camera, the compact SUV also gets VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), TCS (Traction Control System) and HAC (Hill-start Assist Control). There will be a 360-degree camera as well.
