New Delhi:

Indian auto carmaker Mahindra and Mahindra registered a growth in sale in the month of February 2019. The SUV make sold 56,005 units in February which is almost 10 per cent more than the sales in the same month last year which was 51,127 units.

The passenger vehicles segment sold 26,109 vehicles last month as against 22,389 units in February 2018 which is 17 per cent more.

In the last year, Mahindra has launched three new cars in different sections of its lineup including Marazzo, Alturas G4 and XUV300.

Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, M&M Ltd said, “The month of February has augured well for Mahindra. We have witnessed a strong double digit growth of 16% in our UV portfolio, on the back of our newly launched XUV300 model. Further, the overall growth for the month has been around 10%. On a YTD basis too, we have shown a strong growth of 12% at an overall level’’.

Even, the export of Mahindra cars has seen a growth of 16 per cent from 1654 units to 3090 units. However, the medium and heavy commercial vehicles saw a drop in sale unit by 17 per cent from 828 units to 686 units.

Meanwhile, in the fiscal year of 2018-19 Mahindra and Mahindra has sold a total of 545,644 units which is 12 per cent more than the last year in the same period.

Last month, Mahindra launched its much-awaited compact SUV starting at Rs 7.90 lakh and Rs 8.49 lakh for the petrol and diesel engine respectively.

In the petrol engine variant, it comes with a 1.2-litre which can produce 121 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque while the diesel engine comes with a 1.5-litre engine which produces 300 Nm of torque. It is mated with a 6-speed transmission.

Mahindra XUV300 also includes first-in-segment dual zone Fully Automatic Climate Control and Front Parking Sensors, dual LED daytime running lamps, and premium interior for the top-end model. Mahindra XUV300 will be offered in six colour options including Red Rage, Sun Burst Orange, Pearl White, Napoli Black, DSAT Silver and Aquamarine.
