MG Hector SUV was launched on June 27 this year. Along with the Hector SUV, the Morris Garages (MG Motor) marked its debut in the Indian market on positive note. The bookings for MG Hector commenced on June 4 in India. The company have so far received over 28,000 bookings. The major challenge to MG Hector comes from Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. The length and width of MG Hector is 4,655 mm and 1,835 mm respectively. The height and wheelbase of MG Hector are 1,760 mm and 2,750 mm respectively.
In terms of the engine, MG Hector comes with the option of both petrol and diesel powertrains. There is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine good for 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque, with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. You can have it with a 6-speed DCT (Double Clutch Transmission) also. Then there is a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel motor producing 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. It is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Hector also gets a segment first 48V Hybrid System with the petrol trim. Boasting of better fuel efficiency and lower emissions, this variant also gets a 6-speed manual gearbox.
MG Hector comes with the features including LED headlamps and front and rear fog lamps, LED DRLs and tail lamps, dual tone machined alloys and floating light turn indicators. There will be a 7-inch coloured MID and a 10.4-inch HD touchscreen AVN system. It also features the next-gen iSMART connectivity technology.
Other features the SUV offers include a premium cabin equipped with power adjustable seats, electronic parking brake, 360-degree camera and cruise control.
MG Hector will be offered in four variants - Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. It will come in five colours - glaze red, burgundy red, starry black, aurora silver and candy white.
The Hector SUV starts at Rs 12.18 lakh (ex-showroom, India) going all the way up to Rs 16.88 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The length and width of Hyundai Creta is 4,270 mm and 1,780 mm respectively. The height and wheelbase of Tata Harrier are 1,630 mm and 2,590 mm respectively.
Hyundai Creta has multiple engines to offer. Starting with the diesel, there is a 1.4-litre CRDi engine which produces 88 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
It also offers more powerful 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, CRDi diesel engine which produces 126 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and to its advantage has the six-speed torque converter unit as an option in the SX variant. Then there is a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, VTVT petrol motor which produces 121 bhp and 151 Nm of peak torque. It is also mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The six-speed automatic is optional on the SX variant.
Hyundai Creta comes with features including sunroof, wireless charging dock, wristband entry, touchscreen unit which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, engine start-stop button etc.
