New Delhi:

Tata Motors on Friday announced the launch of the dark edition of its flagship SUV Harrier, with 14 design enhancements, at a starting price of Rs 16.76 lakh. The company had first launched its premium mid-sized sedan in the Indian market in January.

This roll out of the dark edition comes close on the heels of the launch of dual tone variants of the Harrier to celebrate 10,000 customers, Tata Motors said in a release. Indian Hotels opens Vivanta in Shillong.

Tata Group’s Indian Hotels (IHCL) on Friday said it has entered Shillong, Meghalaya with a 100-room property under its brand Vivanta. This hotel is a management contract with Aura Hotels and Resorts, it said in a statement.

The brownfield project slated to open in mid-2020 and this would be IHCL’s fourth hotel in the North East, with others located at Assam, Sikkim and Tripura.

Launched in January 2019, Tata Harrier has become a leader of SUV segment. Tata Motors has already sold more than 10,000 units of Harrier and the company had recently announced to introduce Harrier in a new all-black paint scheme. Moving ahead, the automaker has now introduced sunroof as an official accessory for the Tata Harrier SUV.

Notably, customers can now get the sunroof as an accessory for Rs 95,500. Interestingly, this is not the first time that Tata has introduced a new feature for the Harrier. Since its launch in January 2019, the carmaker has updated the SUV with Apple Carplay, introduced a couple of dual-tone colour options, and made improvements to the NVH levels, touchscreen system, steering response and the clutch.

Talking about the dimensions, the length and width of Tata Harrier is 4598 mm and 1,894 mm respectively. The height and wheelbase of Tata Harrier are 1,706 mm and 2,741 mm respectively.

In the Harrier, you will get only one engine option. Harrier comes with a Kryotec 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that makes 140 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. There is no automatic transmission option available in the car.

Tata Harrier comes with features including 3D LED tail lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, Xenon HID projector headlamps and dual function LED DRLs with turn indicators. Interestingly, there are 9 JBL speakers including four speakers, four tweeters and a subwoofer.

Currently, the Tata Harrier is priced in India at Rs12.99 lakh to Rs 16.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the competition front, Tata Harrier is up against recently-launched MG Hector, Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass in the Indian market.
