Tata Motors will launch its much-awaited Nexon electric vehicle in India on January 28, 2020. Tata Nexon EV will be the first vehicle to be launched with company's Ziptron technology. It is to be noted that the pre-bookings for Tata Nexon EV is already underway at select dealerships of the automaker for an amount of Rs 21,000. The price for the upcoming EV is expected to range somewhere between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 17 lakh. After the launch, Tata Nexon EV will compete against Hyundai Kona EV and MG ZS EV.
The Nexon electric, which will be made available in XM, XZ+, and XZ+ LUX trims, will come equipped with the company's latest Ziptron electric powertrain technology. The Nexon electric will be powered by a liquid-cooled permanent magnet AC motor that belts out 129 hp and 245 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to an automatic transmission.
The upcoming electric car will include a 30.2 kWh high energy density lithium-ion battery pack, which will be liquid-cooled and IP67 certified for water and dust resistance. The battery also complies with the AIS-048, nail penetration test. Its casing is impact resistant.
The Nexon EV will be charged up to 80 per cent in an hour using a DC fast charger. Also, it can be charged up to 80 per cent with a standard 15A home socket in eight hours. The Nexon EV will have a range of more than 300 km. The Nexon EV will have a warranty of eight years or 1.60 lakh kilometres on the battery.
Features on the upcoming electric car will include contrast automatic headlamps, automatic rain-sensing wipers, dual-tone roof, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, premium leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, fully automatic climate control, keyless entry & push-button start and sunroof.

On the safety front, Nexon has proven to be the best in its class bagging the 5-star rating from Global NCAP, and the same is expected from the electric car. Thus, it will come with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and camera, seatbelt reminder, high-speed alert, and ISOFIX child seat mounts, among others. The Nexon EV will also include 35 connected features and this will be standard on all-electric cars coming from the Tata stable.
