About Board of School Education Haryana, Bhiwani
The Board of School Education Haryana, Bhiwani was established under in the year 1969 as a means to monitor and regulate the Secondary and Higher Secondary education in the state of Haryana. The board has been conducting the matriculation, middle school and 10+2 level vocational courses since the year 1976, 1987 and 1990 respectively. In addition, to provide the opportunity to the students who are unable to pursue the education in the regular mode, the board has established the Haryana Open School in 1994. To keep up with the contemporary system of education the Haryana Board has introduced the semester system of education and was the first board in the country to implement it.
In 1969, the Haryana Board of School Education was established at Chandigarh. The board started working with a staff of 100 officials allocated from Punjab University, Chandigarh.
In 1970, the HBSE conducted its first examination of matric-level.
In 1976, the HBSE started conducting middle school leaving examination (8th class).
In 1981, the HBSE was shifted to Bhiwani. In the year 1987, the board started conducting 10+2 examination and later in 1990 also started conducting the vocational examination.
In 1987, the HBSE adopted 10+2 pattern of education and conducted XII class examination under the new scheme.
In 1990, the HBSE started conducting 10+2 Vocational Education examination.
In 1994, the HBSE established Haryana Open School to increase its reach.
In 2006, the HBSE adopted the semester system from session 2006-2007. It is the first Educational Board in India to do so and also the first board to introduce relative grading, CCE (Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation) in all board classes i.e. Middle, Matric (Secondary or High School) and Senior Secondary School (Higher Secondary).
