With Independence Day falling on a Tuesday, a day off on Monday simply speaks for an extended weekend. Many Delhiities are planning an extensive four day trip during the extended weekend which starts from August 12. The extended week would In case, you too have some plans but haven't made booking of tickets and hotels, then you should do it as soon as possible.

Top holiday destinations like Kerala, Goa and Rajasthan are already on the list of Delhiites. However, the bottom line is, the airfares for the places are soaring like anything. The airfare from Delhi to Goa will cost you around Rs. 3000 during normal days, but it has escalated to Rs. 9,000 for the extended weekend. This is not all. The hotel rooms at many tourist places are also being booked quickly, as per travel agents.

There's a good news for Delhiites who haven't booked their tickets, as there is still hope that they will make it to their destination. Next week is going to be chock-a-block as booking will reach its peak. Ticket booking generally peaks closer to such extended weekends.

People planning to visit places like Shimla, Dharamshala and Mcleodganj might face difficulty in getting an accommodation due to fewer inventories.

Finding an accommodation would be difficult even if flight tickets are available. Tour operations have suggested to opt for a complete tour package rather than booking the tickets first and then reaching the destination and booking a hotel there.

There are people who are even planning a mini-vacation to South-east Asia and eastern Europe. The increased demand has made it difficult to get a flight ticket for these places. Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia continue to remain the most favourite destinations for the people of the city.
