New Delhi:

E-commerce major Amazon on Thursday said it has launched its largest delivery station in the country at Pune, spread across 40,000 square foot, to strengthen its last-mile delivery network and expedite deliveries ahead of the upcoming festive season.

The company added that it is expanding its delivery network in Maharashtra including cities and towns like Tuljapur, Lonar, Kolad, Shegaon, Igatipuri, Sangameshwar and Shirala.

With this expansion, Amazon has close to 200 owned and delivery service partner stations and more than 3000 'I have space' partners across Maharashtra.

Battling several other retailers for supremacy in ecommerce, Amazon has been making a slew of new announcements in India.

Last week, Amazon announced the launch of AmazonFresh, through which customers can order their grocery requirements across a selection of over 5,000 fruits and vegetables, dairy, meat, ice-creams, and dry grocery like staples, packaged food, personal care and home care.

However, the service is, currently, limited in selected pin codes of Bengaluru.
