AirAsia India on Tuesday appointed Tata veteran Deepak Mahendra its new chief financial officer (CFO) with immediate effect.

Mahendra replaces Ankur Khanna, whose exit last month within ten months of joining the airline sparked the question over high attrition rate at top level of Air Asia. Ankur Khanna was also summoned by Enforcement Directorate  with the alleged financial wrongdoings at the airline.

The ED is probing Rs 22 crore scam in the airline.

Mahendra has been with Tata Power as the chief of the corporate finance and accounts since 2008. Mahendra started his career with Tata Steel.
