​​​​​Eid Al-Adha: Markets to remain closed on account of Bakrid

New Delhi:

All markets will remain closed on Wednesday on account of the Muslim festival Bakrid or Eid Al-Adha, according to markets sources.

The BSE, NSE, forex, money market, bullion and other major commodity markets will remain closed in observation of the Id festival.

Apart from markets, several institutions and government offices are also closed today.

Bakrid or Eid Al-Adha is celebrated on every 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah. It is marked by special prayers on the first day of the festival early in the morning. Bakrid lasts for about three days.

Muslims across the world celebrate it by sacrificing an animal and feast on it to celebrate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim towards God and God’s compassion towards him.
