Reactions have started pouring in after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the first full-fledged Budget of Modi government's second term. Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman broke her own record of delivering longest Budget speech ever. She had to pause mid-way and had to table the rest of the speech on the floor of the parliament. Last year, Sitharaman's speech lasted for two hours, 17 minutes while this year, she continued with her speech for two hours and 41 minutes. Moreover, the Congress went up in arms against the government ahead of the presentation of Union Budget 2020.
Amit Shah
Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Modi govt has taken effective steps to rationalize tax system, boost basic infrastructure, strengthen banking system, promote investment and ease of doing business." He added that the Budget will take India closer to become USD 5 trillion economy.
Rajnath Singh
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Budget has clear focus on welfare and development of all sections and added that it gives special attention to farmers.
JP Nadda
BJP president JP Nadd said, "This budget gives impetus to fulfilment of aspirations of the middle income groups. Home for All, Subsidy for first- time home buyers, relaxations in income tax, funds allocation for development of SC/ST community, schemes like Jal Jeevan Mission have been announced."
Yogi Adityanath
Yogi Adityanath congratulated Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and termed the Budget 'development oriented' and a 'pro-farmer' one. He said, "Budget will further strengthen the economy."
Arvind Kejriwal
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said that Delhi was given a step-motherly treatment however he had high expectations from the Budget. He added, "Delhi does not figure in BJP's priorities. Why should people vote for it."
Congress
Reacting on the Budget, Congress said that the Budget was full of piecemeal measures, and was repacked repackaged schemes. The party went on to add that it was 'jugglery of tax slabs and no real solutions to solve economic crisis'. Congress leader Anand Sharma called the Budget 'insipid' added that it 'lacks stimulus for growth'.
Sitaram Yechury
CPI(M)'s Sitaram Yechury said the Budget was full of 'just platitudes, slogans; nothing substantial to alleviate people's misery, growing unemployment, prices.'
Chirag Paswan
LJP leader Chirag Paswan said, "I rate this Budget 10 out of 10."
Ramvilas Paswan
LJP chief Ramvilas Paswan hailed the allocation of 85,000 crore rupees for Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes in 2020-21. He congratulated the govt for allocating 53,700 crore rupees for Scheduled Tribes
