Rajkot:

Japanese vehicle manufacturer Mitsubishi plans to improve its dealership network in Gujarat as well as in the country, Hindustan Motor Finance Corporation Ltd’s (HMFCL) Chief Executive Officer P Vijayan.

HMFCL sells Mitsubishi cars across India.

“We have 40 dealers and 56 outlets across the country. We plan to improve our dealership network and by July 15, we would have around 70 dealers and outlets in the country,” Vijayan said while inaugurating Saurashtra’s first dealership for the Mitsubishi Pajero sport car here.

The company has a plant in Chennai, where it assemble engine and parts brought into India from Japan and Thailand, he said.

The Chennai plant has a capacity to assemble around 800 units to 900 units per month, Vijayan said, adding that the number of assembled units is not a concern for the company in India.

When asked if the company plans to set up a unit in Gujarat, Vijayan said, “Presently, the company does not intend to expand its manufacturing network in the country”.

Calling Gujarat as an important state for the company, Vijayan said, “This is our second dealership in Gujarat after Surat. Within a couple of months we are going to appoint dealers in Ahmedabad and Vadodara”.

“The new Pajero Sport model has been launched in two versions and the company plans to come with much more new products very soon,” Vijayan said.
