February 29 this year attracted audience not because it was a leap year but because the once-in-four-years event saw Indians scrambling to watch both the Oscars and Budget 2016.
On one hand where the Indian audience sat up early to watch the Academy Awards to witness the historic moment when actor Leonardo DiCaprio finally won an Oscar and actor Priyanka Chopra held one in her hands; the second segment of crowd went gaga over the biggest financial event of the Indian calender- Budget 2016.
The 2016 event saw an influx of interest with apparel, cars and cigarettes becoming costlier. But let us take a look at how Indians were on the web this Monday than with this gif from Google Trends:
It seems the clear winner was the Union Budget with major viewers watching Finance Minister Arun Jaitley his 1 hour 41 minutes speech at 12:46 pm. While those watching Oscar led the peak trend at 10:30 am.
