LPG price hiked again! Check out new per cylinder prices

New Delhi:

The per cylinder prices of domestic cooking gas LPG was hiked for the second time in less than 10 days after the central government on Friday increased the commission of dealers. According to the price notification of state-owned fuel retailers, a 14.2-kg subsidised LPG cylinder in the national capital will now cost Rs 507.42 as against Rs 505.34, putting an extra burden on common people.

"Pending finalisation of De-Novo Study for revision of LPG distributors' commission and taking into consideration the increase in transportation costs, wages etc, it has been decided to revise the distributors' commission to Rs 50.58 per 14.2 kg cylinder and Rs 25.29 per 5 kg cylinder as an interim measure," the Oil Ministry order that raised the dealer’s commission stated.

This is the second hike in less than a fortnight in the prices of domestic cooking gas. Earlier on November 1, the LPG prices had been increased by Rs 2.94 per cylinder.

Since June 2018, the rates of the LPG cylinder have gone up every month. In the last five months, the prices have risen by Rs 16.21.

In Mumbai, a 14.2-kg subsidised LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 505.05 while in Kolkata people will have to pay Rs 510.70 per cylinder. Among the four mega cities, Chennai has the cheapest price of Rs 495.39 per cylinder.

As per the ministry’s order, new dealer's commission will be made up of Rs 30.08 establishment charges and Rs 20.50 delivery charges for a 14.2-kg cylinder. For 5 kg cylinder, the establishment charges have been fixed at Rs 15.04 and the rest Rs 10.25 are delivery charges.

However, people who refill their cylinders directly from the distributor's premises will not be charged for delivery. The prices of non-subsidised LPG cylinder has also gone up to Rs 942.50 per 14.2-kg cylinder.
