New Delhi:

Apple users you better don’t get your device repaired from a shop other than Apple Store if you want to keep using your device.

Error 53 that notifies if the phone has been repaired from a non-apple shop will brick, aka disable, your device and so far there is no fix to it other than buying a new device.

The concept is not new, there have been ‘n’ number of discussions over it at several forums. The common status in all discussions remained with the fact if this Error 53 comes to your device then game over, there is no way your device can be reused.

Though there are discussions over it from a long time but what made it buzz in recent days is a report which mentioned many devices going dead in UK.

In a response to the same Apple said that the error occurs when the iPhone is repaired by an unauthorised technician, and that the phone is locked to protect the device’s security.

In a statement to the Guardian Apple said, “We take customer security very seriously and Error 53 is the result of security checks designed to protect our customers. iOS checks that the Touch ID sensor in your iPhone or iPad correctly matches your device’s other components. If iOS finds a mismatch, the check fails and Touch ID, including for Apple Pay use, is disabled. This security measure is necessary to protect your device and prevent a fraudulent Touch ID sensor from being used. If a customer encounters Error 53, we encourage them to contact Apple Support.”

Well, just hope your touch id works fine till the time you own the device and also if it is damaged make sure you are hitting the authorised apple store for repair.
