Social networking giant Facebook has released a standalone mobile app for searching events and happenings around with friends. It will also help users to look for things to do and nearby events.
Named ‘Events’, the app is presently available for iPhone users and is not yet made available in India. It is yet to be released on Android.
Events will be pivotal for users let find concerts, plays, shows and other type of events around which they are interested in attending.
Facebook Product Manager (India) Aditya Koolwal in an online post said,” When you open Events, you can quickly catch up on new events your friends are interested in, recently-announced events by the Pages you like, and updates from events you're already connected to.”
Significantly Facebook’s events section is browsed by more than 100 million users daily to discover activities around them.
The Events app allows users to search nearby events based on interest or location and look for prospect options of outing. Further plans made on Events are organised on calendar which also gets shared with friends.
Before foraying into Events, Facebook already owns the popular photo sharing app Instagram, and cross platform mobile messaging app Whatsapp which account for more than a billion users.
