New Delhi:

Following the Central government’s decision to slash Rs 2.50 per litre on petrol and diesel on Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled states followed up by cutting down the fuel prices by another Rs 2.50 per litre, giving the consumers a huge relief of Rs 5.00 per litre. On Friday, petrol price in Delhi stood at Rs 81.50 per litre, while Diesel was priced at Rs 72.50 per litre. Whereas in Mumbai, petrol was marked at Rs 86.97 per litre and diesel was priced Rs 77.45 per litre.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday announced a cut in excise duty on fuel prices and urged all the states to cut their respective taxes to provide relief to the consumers.

Chennai

Petrol price in Chennai was at Rs 84.50 per litre, whereas diesel stood at Rs 77.11 per litre.

Kolkata

Fuel prices in Kolkata also followed up with the latest cut, petrol was marked at Rs 83.35 per litre, while diesel was priced at Rs 74.80 per litre.

Bengaluru

In Bengaluru, petrol was priced at Rs 82.14 per litre, whereas diesel price was at Rs 73.32 per litre.

Ranchi

Jharkhand’s capital witnessed the petrol price marked at Rs 77.91, while diesel stood at Rs 74.51

Gurugram

Gurgaon witnessed the petrol price marked at Rs 80.20 per litre, whereas diesel was marked at Rs 71.86.

Chandigarh

Punjab’s Chandigarh saw the petrol price locked at Rs 78.45 on Friday, while diesel was priced at Rs 70.93.

Guwahati

Petrol was priced at Rs 78.50 per litre, while Diesel was marked at Rs 70.97.

Bhopal

Bhopal witnessed the petrol price marked at Rs 84.69 per litre, whereas diesel was marked at Rs 74.33 per litre.

Bhubaneswar

In Odisha’s Bhubaneswar, petrol price stood at Rs 80.33 per litre, while diesel was at 78.28 per litre.

Gandhinagar

In Gujarat’s Gandhinagar, petrol price was marked at Rs 78.68, while diesel stood at Rs 76.42 per litre.

On Thursday, BJP president Amit Shah took to Twitter and congratulated all the BJP-ruled states to slash the fuel prices further in addition to the decision by the Centre.

"I congratulate the chief ministers of all the BJP-ruled states for this sensitive decision that will give relief to the public," he wrote.

In states like Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, fuel prices were cut down to a total of Rs 5. The states have reduced the sales tax and VAT charged on diesel and petrol.
