Petrol Rate, Diesel Rate Today: Petrol and diesel price saw a slight increase across India on Thursday (September 26). Petrol and diesel rates have increased heavily since September 17 following attacks on Saudi Arabian crude oil facilities. On Wednesday, the price rise has finally stopped after state-run oil marketing companies did not increased petrol and diesel prices. However, Thursday saw another rise in fuel prices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Gurugram, Noida and other Indian crities. On September 26, petrol prices saw an increase of 6 paise per litre while diesel rate increased by 7 paise a litre.

Fuel (Petrol, Diesel, CNG) Rates In Indian Cities

The petrol prices in Delhi increased by 6 paise to Rs 74.19 a litre while diesel prices were at Rs 67.14 per litre on Thursday, according to the fuel price data available on the website of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL).

The rate of petrol in Noida rose by 5 paise Rs 75.66 a litre while diesel was selling at Rs 67.46 a litre. In Gurugram, petrol rate is Rs 73.86 a litre, while diesel price in Gurugram is Rs 66.29 per litre.

In Mumbai, petrol was priced at Rs 79.85 per litre. A litre of diesel is priced at Rs 70.44 per litre in Mumbai. In Chennai, the retail price of petrol remained Rs 77.12 a litre, while diesel was being sold at Rs 70.98 a litre. In Kolkata, petrol is retailing at Rs 76.88 a litre today, while diesel price were at Rs 69.56 a litre today.

The price of CNG is Rs 47.10 a kg in Delhi this month. The price of CNG is Rs 52.95 a kg in Noida while CNG is priced at Rs 58.45 per kg in Gurugram.

Why Fuel Prices Change Every Day?

The fuel prices are in India are revised on a daily basis. Petrol and diesel prices are revised every day at 06:00 am to sync it with the variation in global oil prices. When international crude oil prices gain, prices in India move higher. Other factors also impact the price of fuel like rupee to US dollar exchange rate, cost of crude oil, global cues, demand for fuel, and so on.   

Why Fuel Prices Differ In Every City?

Price of fuel includes excise duty, value added tax (VAT), and dealer commission. As VAT varies from state to state, the price of fuel is different in every city.
