Global telecom giant, Samsung is planning to announce a global recall of its new Galaxy Note 7 phone in less than a week, according to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, amid reports that batteries in some of the devices have exploded.

Recently, it was reported that Samsung had decided to delay Note 7 shipments while investigating the claims, and it would appear that the company might've found a serious cause for concern.

According to media reports, a Samsung spokesperson has confirmed that shipments have been halted, though couldn't comment on whether the release would be affected around the world.

Samsung, which hasn't confirmed the reports of exploding phone batteries, has not responded to a request for comment.

Samsung, which released the phone less than two weeks ago, boasts of the new handset's robust battery life.
