Google Talk dead, Hangout new successor

New Delhi, News Nation Bureau | Updated : 17 February 2015, 08:15 PM

Google Talk is finally dead and over and all those who preferred to use the service have no option left than to switch to Hangout now.

Announcing the decision, Mayur Kamat, Product Manager for Google Voice and Hangouts, said that the Google Talk app for Windows will be marked as deprecated starting February 23.

For some time, Google has been in process of weaning off some of its popular services including Google Voice.

However, Google Talk app will not shut down permanently instead its users can utilise the services via third-party apps.

Of course, Google has warned that these third-party apps cannot be completely trusted.

So, meanwhile it seems the users have only two options left- either switch to Hangouts or be at permanent risk of revealing your secrets.
