New Delhi:

Search engine Google on Saturday launched a map application that provides information on areas impacted by floods, relief centers and roads closed in rain-ravaged Uttrakhand.

"This crisis map is only an early version aimed at providing quick information, such as, places affected, relief centres and road closures," a blog post by Jayanth Mysore, Google APAC Senior Product Manager, said.

The search engine launched an application 'Person Finder' to offer information on missing people in flood-affected areas in the country, including Uttarakhand.

Google Person Finder is a web application that allows individuals to post and search for the status of relatives or friends affected by a disaster.

Flash floods and landslides triggered by the monsoon fury left over hundreds dead in calamity-hit Uttarakhand while thousands of pilgrims and locals are being rescued from various districts.

Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde also said over 200 people have lost their lives, while 50,000 people were still stranded in different inaccessible parts of Uttarakhand, hit by flash floods and landslides.
