Ahmedabad:
Self-styled godman Asaram, arrested in connection with a sexual assault case, spent his night on Monday at the office of the Anti-Terrorist Sqaud (ATS). During investigation, Asaram told the police officials that the allegations against him are baseless.
As soon as he arrived at the ATS office in Ahmedabad after travelling down from Jodhpur, he requested the officials to let him stay at their office for the night.
He was granted permission to stay there and was given a mat and a bedsheet.
He also spoke to his lawyer during the same night. Asaram also spoke to the cops before of the official recording of his statement.
He was informed that he was arrested by the Ahmedabad Police. Asaram when offered food, denied to eat anything but asked for a glass of milk.
At around 9:00 am, the investigating officer read out the complaint filed against Asaram by a Surat girl, however, the controversial self-styled godman called the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
When the cops started recording his statement at around 10:00 pm, Asaram said that he was tired and wanted to sleep, after which he was allotted a room in the third floor, the chamber meant for lodging terrorists.
This is the new office of the ATS in Ahmedabad and Asaram is the first high-profile accused to be kept there.
