Bengaluru:

Kormangala Police of South-east Zone Bengaluru have arrested a 34-year-old drug peddler Rachappa from his house at Kannakpura Road and seized 37 kg of marijuana and Rs 5 lakh in cash.

During interrogation, Rachappa revealed that he has filed Rs 40 lakh IT return for the year 2017-18 and he also received a notice from IT department to prove the source of money which he provided with fake documents.

Dr Boralingiaiah, DCP South-east Zone Bengaluru said, “We have received the inputs and conducted the raid and recovered 37 kg marijuana and 5 lakh cash from his house. During investigations, he revealed about the notice of IT department. He has intentionally filed IT return to turn his black money into white which he has earned through drug peddling."

Rachappa has come to Bengaluru 10 years back and started working as a construction labourer. During this time only he started selling marijuana to his friends but after sometime, he realised that he can earn more money by selling narcotic drugs. So he left the labour work and formed his own network of peddlers and started selling marijuana on a big scale.

"Rachappa had made a big network and earned a lot of money through this and owns a couple of houses in Bengaluru now. We have sent our team to Chamrajnagar from where he used to get the marijuana," said Boralingaiah.

T Suneel Kumar, after taking the charge of Commissioner of Bengaluru Police last year, had instructed his officers to start a massive crackdown on drug peddling and peddlers in the city. In the last one year, Bengaluru Police has registered more than 500 cases of drug peddling.
