New Delhi:

Days after BJP’s Pragya Singh Thakur faced embarrassing mid-air drama on a commercial flight, the Bhopal lawmaker once again found herself in a sticky situation outside a prominent university in her constituency. In an incident that took place on December 25, the BJP MP was greeted with ‘terrorist’ slogan when she was meeting two students of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication in Bhopal. Right outside the university gates, she was surrounded by students, many of them belonging to NSUI. They didn’t let the MP to enter the university. They raised “aatankwadi wapas jayo" and "Pragya Thakur go back" slogans. She retreated and left the place. However, afterwards, she said that she ‘will consult legal experts and subsequently take legal action against all those involved.’

On December 23, Thakur was embroiled in a tiff with a co-passenger on a commercial flight. In the viral video of the mid-air drama, Thakur was heard telling angry co-passengers that she is willing to relinquish her seat so long as the issue is clarified through documentary proof.

"I said this at the beginning -- show me your rulebook. If I don't feel comfortable, I will go," she says, adding that she had agreed to go economy even though "she has the right to a first class seat". "You should have the moral compass to own up if other people are being inconvenienced because of you. Despite being a (political) leader, you are holding 50 people at ransom," the man is heard telling the Bhopal MP. Pragya Thakur and other man also argued over the language used. Pragya Thakur also filed a complaint with Bhopal Airport Director alleging that she was not allotted the seat that she had booked in a SpiceJet flight and the conduct of the airline crew was not right with her.

During her campaigning days, the Malegaon blast accused had said that former Anti-Terrorist Squad chief Hemant Karkare died in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks as she had cursed him for treating her “very badly” while she was in custody in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. “Hemant Karkare falsely implicated me. He died of his karma. I told him, he will be destroyed. I told him his entire dynasty will be erased. Maine kaha tera (Karkare) sarvanash hoga,” she had said. Pragya had also stirred some controversy during her oath-taking ceremony in the Lok Sabha.

The Malegaon blast accused took oath in Sanskrit and ended it with 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' slogan. Later, BJP members continued to raise 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' slogans, teasing the Opposition. They started raising slogan after oath taking by every BJP member. Pragya Thakur defeated Congress stalwart and former chief minister Digvijay Singh from Bhopal Lok Sabha Constituency. Previously, Thakur was rebuked by none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. At that time, she had termed Mahatma Gandhi’s killer Nathuram Godse as ‘real patriot’.

PM Modi had said that he could never forgive her from his heart for that remark. Thakur’s legal troubles are also mounting. Previously, the Special NIA Court had directed Thakur, Lt Col Prasad Purohit and all other accused of Malegaon 2008 blast case to remain present before the court at least once a week. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court, which expressed displeasure over their absence in the courtroom, has set May 20 as the next date of hearing. Six people were killed and over 100 injured when an explosive device strapped to a motorcycle went off near a mosque in Malegaon, a town about 200 km from here in north Maharashtra, on September 29, 2008.
