A Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh allegedly committed suicide on Thursday after he was denied a ticket to contest the assembly polls, scheduled to take place on November 25.
Narsingh Malviya, a leader from Agar, died at a hospital in Ujjain after he allegedly consumed poison.
A district Panchayat member, Malviya had been with the Congress for two decades. He was hoping to make a debut with the state polls but Congress fielded another candidate, Madhu Gehlot .
Malviya even protested for days against the selection of Madhu Gehlot.
Madhya Pradesh and four other states are going to polls in November-December. The counting of votes will be held on December 8.
