Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav on Tuesday expressed grief over the demise of former union minister and Congress veteran Vidya Charan Shukla.
Shukla (84), who suffered bullet injuries in the deadly Naxal attack that eliminated Chhattisgarh party leadership over a fortnight ago, died at Medanta Medicity Hospital in Gurgaon due to multi-organ failure.
"Shukla was a leader who always remained a great source of inspiration to young leaders. The country has lost an able and a sharp leader with the passing away of Shukla," the Governor said in a message.
Terming the death of Shukla as an irreparable loss to the country, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that "Shukla was a senior Congress leader who had dedicated his entire life for serving the country".
The Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh said the party has lost a dedicated Congress soldier. "He will always be remembered for his contribution to the development of undivided Madhya Pradesh," Ajay said.
