The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a Jammu-based couple from Ludhiana and seized 10 kilogram heroin from them. The STF has identified a Kashmir-based smuggler and another based in Pakistan who ran the operation. STF chief Mohammad Mustafa told reporters that the couple had confessed to supplying two consignments earlier in Amritsar.
Mohammad Arbi (48) and his wife Jamila Begum (36) of Bathindi Colony in Jammu were travelling in a Maruti Suzuki Swift bearing a police sticker. They had hidden the drugs in walnut boxes, according to reports.
“Heroin was smuggled from Pakistan and sent to Punjab via Jammu and Kashmir. The couple has been sent to six-day STF remand. Further investigation is underway,” according to Snehdeep Sharma, AIG (STF).
