Chandigarh:

Two acid bottles were seized on Saturday from outside the private residence of Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari by police which said they were investigating all angles including foul play.

"Four bottles were found outside the boundary wall of the Minister's residence in Sector 19. While two were empty, two other bottles were filled with acid," Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar said.

He said the bottles were found by Minister's Personal Security Officer Satish Kumar who informed the police about it.

Police sources said they were investigating the matter and added that the acid could be the one commonly used in households for toilet cleaning purposes.

Tewari is a Congress MP from Ludhiana and is mostly based at Delhi and also often visits his parliamentary constituency in Punjab.

Asked if there could be any foul play in the incident, the DSP said, "we are investigating the case from all angles. At this stage, it would be premature to say anything."
