Cops penalised for not acting against drug trafficking

A Station House Officer (SHO) was suspended and a departmental inquiry ordered against a circle officer on Tuesday following the arrest of two youths from their area recently under charges of drug trafficking.

Rajpur police station SHO Amarjeet Singh was suspended and a departmental probe ordered against Mussoorie circle officer Jaya Baluni after two youths, found in possession of charas, were arrested from Rajpur area of the city.

Rajpur police station area falls under Mussoorie circle.

The move follows Uttarakhand DGP B S Siddhu's directive to the police department to initiate stern action against drug trafficking.

If a case of drug trafficking by a particular gang comes to the surface after October 22, the SHO of the police station concerned would be immediately suspended and a departmental inquiry initiated against the circle officer concerned, the DGP had warned at a meeting with officials on October 19.
