Dehradun:
A teenaged girl was mauled to death by a leopard in a village near Dehradun triggering fear among residents, police said on Friday.
15-year-old Laxmi was assaulted by the big cat when she went to a waterbody to fetch water in Chandmari village of Sahaspur block near Dehradun last evening, they said.
She was dragged by the leopard to a nearby forest from where her decomposed body was recovered by villagers a few hours later, they said.
Over one thousand fear-stricken villagers of the area have demanded that the leopard be declared a man eater and shot dead.
Forest officials said a trap has been laid and forest guards deployed in the area to capture the leopard.
