On day 1, Delhi government's doorstep delivery services get big response, 21,000 calls attempted

To avail the doorstep delivery of services launched by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government, as many as 21,000 calls were attempted and around 369 appointments could be fixed due to extreme traffic at the call centres, the Delhi government said. The government on Monday said that on its debut day, the brand new scheme received “tremendous response”, adding that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has taken the responsibility of monitoring the developments himself and will observe the data every hour.

“By 6 pm on Monday, the total number of calls connected were 2,728. Out of these 2,728, the number of calls answered stood at 1,286 at 6 pm. Rest of the calls were on waiting line and are being called back,” the government said in a statement.

The statement read that a total of 369 appointments were fixed for different services to be availed by the citizens of Delhi.

Residents of the national capital can call on 1076 to submit their doorstep delivery request between 8 am to 10 pm. But, the call centre will work round-the-clock.

The number of operators is stated to be increased from 40 to 80 from today (September 11) given the enormous response on the first day.

The Aam Aadmi government has hired VFS Global Services Pvt Ltd, a private company, by which the Delhi government will be providing at the doorstep of citizens.

The government has also put up a feedback system for those who are availing the doorstep delivery services.

Caste certificate, income certificate, marriage registration certificate, handicap pension scheme, duplicate of RC certificate, change in address in vehicle’s registration certificate (RC), learner’s licence, permanent driving licence, are among the 40 services which are being provided in the first phase of doorstep delivery services.
