The 18-year-old son of the additional sessions judge, who was shot by his bodyguard near Arcadia market in Gurugram’s Sector-49 on October 13 and declared brain dead, died in a Gurugram hospital early on Tuesday morning.

Kant’s wife Ritu and son Dhruv were shot by his bodyguard Mahipal. “The reason for Ritu’s death was excessive bleeding. After initial interrogation by the police, it was established that Mahipal was a Haryana police head constable and was serving as a personal security guard of Additional Sessions Judge Krishan Kant.

Mahipal had been demanding leave to visit his home for quite some time now, however, his leave was not sanctioned,  a police officer said.

“The judge also used to scold him often,” one of the interrogating officers said.
