New Delhi:

Five members of a Kashmiri family, including four women, were allegedly thrashed by a mob in national capital Delhi’s Sunlight Colony on Friday night.

The victims were allegedly surrounded and beaten up by a mob of 30-40 people carrying hockey sticks and iron rods.

“My sisters were abused and beaten up. I have a broken left hand and one of my guests who had come to visit us was also attacked. It was a planned attack and the accused were carrying hockey sticks,” said one of the victims.

Following the incident, the police have registered a case and launched a probe into the alleged hate attack, an officer said.

According to the police, the incident occurred following a dispute over feeding of stray dogs.

“The complainant is an avid dog lover and animal right activist. There have been more than 50 complaints and counter-complaints against the residents of Siddharth Enclave and the complainant,” police said.

However, the victims claimed that they were targeted because of their Kashmiri identity and the accused even shouted ‘Kashmiri terrorists should be sent back’.

The victims said that they were attacked a couple of times earlier and had also asked for police protection on May 2 but did not get any help.
