Kejriwal’s criticism came after the UP government filed a vision document in the Supreme Court suggesting that the Taj Mahal, like other monument, could also be brought under the Centre’s “Adopt a Heritage Scheme” under which private and public companies can be tasked with maintenance such as cleanliness and civic amenities at heritage monuments.

On Tuesday, the Yogi Adityanath government filed its first draft report of its vision document on protection and preservation of the Mughal era monument. The entire Taj Mahal precinct should be kejriwal declared a no-plastic zone and all polluting industries in the region closed, the Adityanath government suggested in a bid to protect and preserve the 17th century monument.
