The Meteorological Department (Met) on Friday issued a fresh warning for thunderstorm, accompanied with light rain and gusty winds in and around the national capital region. Hail precipitation has been predicted in isolated areas of Delhi in the next few hours. The weatherman has also forecast rainfall for adjoining areas of Hisar, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Panipat, Kosli, Sonipat, Bagpat, Gurugram, Rewari, Bawal, Manesar Ghaziabad, Noida, Meerut, Hodal, Modinagar, Loni, Khair and Mahendragarh.

"Thunderstorm with rain and gusty winds would occur over and adjoining areas of Delhi, Hisar, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Panipat, Kosli, Sonipat, Bagpat, Gurugram, Rewari, Bawal, Manesar Ghaziabad, Noida, Hodal, Mahendragarh," the news agency ANI reported adding that "Hail precipitation most likely over and nearby of Meerut, Modinagar, Loni, Khair and isolated places of Delhi during the next 2 hours".

Delhiites got some relief from the sweltering heat on Wednesday, with heavy rainfall lashing some parts of the national capital. On Thursday too, the capital city woke up to a pleasant morning as drizzle witnessed across Delhi and its nearby places. Downpour is also reported on Friday somewhere from near the Election Commission of India's office in Delhi.

Rain and thundershowers accompanied with hailstorm and gusty winds are also very likely in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla, Solan, Chamba, Kangra and Mandi during the next 2-3 hrs, the IMD said.

The national capital was reeling under searing heat for the last two months, recording a maximum temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius, the highest for the season so far. However, the much-awaited spell of rain on Wednesday brought the mercury down, with the minimum temperature recorded at 24.3 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature was, however, hovering around 35 degrees Celsius.

Apart from light rain accompanied with lightning and gusty winds, the IMD has predicted generally cloudy sky in the national capital for the next few days.
