New Delhi:

A Delhi delegation of Delhi Congress, along with its president Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence to discuss the issues of power and water scarcity being faced by the people. Delhi Congress working president Haroon Yusuf, Rajesh Lilothia and Devendra Yadav were also part of the delegation that met Kejriwal.

“A delegation led by Delhi Congress Sheila Dikshit, working president Haroon Yusuf, Rajesh Lilothia and Devendra Yadav met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the issues of fixed power charges and scarcity of water being faced by the people,” Delhi Congress tweeted.

Earlier on Saturday, Dikshit had alleged that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi persuaded people living on rented homes to install their separate electricity meters but after that the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission increased fixed power charges.

"Arvind Kejriwal had inheritted the best power system. But he looted the people in the name of installing power meters. He said everyone in Delhi having an indentity card, Aadhar card, they will be issued a meter. Lakhs of new meters were installed. But what they did after installing them, they increased the fixed charges," Haroon Yusuf said.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi over the issue of rising power bills, Congress leader Rajesh Lilothia said that they will launch a stir against the issue to protect the rights of consumers.

The Delhi Congress has been demanding the government not to issue power bills to people for the next six months. It has also accused it of looting Rs 7401 crore in the name of fixed charges and surcharge.
