New Delhi:

The Sitting judge of Delhi High Court Justice Valmiki Mehta died due to cardiac arrest on Friday. Justice Mehta began his career as an advocate in 1982 and was designated as a Senior Advocate in 2001. He assumed office as Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court on April 15, 2009. Justice Mehta’s son is married to Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi’s daughter.

One of the sitting judges of the high court who did not wish to be named said that Mehta was unwell for the past few days and was not attending the court proceedings, reported the Indian Express.

Born on June 6, 1959, in Mumbai, Justice Mehta completed graduation from Sri Venkateshwara College, Delhi University and  LLB from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University. He got enrolled with Delhi Bar Council in 1982 and started practicing law since then. He was designated as a Senior Advocate in 2001 at the age of 42 years. He practiced in Delhi High Court, district courts and various tribunals in civil matters.
