Prime Minister Narendra Modi's niece Damayanti Modi became the target of two bike-borne snatchers near Gujarati Samaj Bhavan in Delhi's Civil Lines, according to reports. Damayanti is a daughter of PM Modi's brother Prahlad Modi. On Saturday, Damayanti filed a case of snatching at a police station in Civil Lines area in the national capital after her purse was snatched by two bike-borne miscreants outside the gates of Gujarati Samaj Bhavan.

According to reports, Damayanti had returned to Delhi from Amritsar today morning. She had booked a room at Gujarati Samaj Bhavan and was going towards it in an auto-rickshaw at around 7 am when two bike-borne miscreants snatched her purse and fled from the spot.

She claimed that around Rs 56,000 in cash, credit and debit cards, two mobile phones and important documents were there in her purse.

I have to travel from her and I am going to face a lot of problems as I don't have any documents. Even the soft copies were in the mobile phone," she added.

“A case has been registered at Civil Lines police station and an investigation is underway,” Delhi Commissioner of Police (PRO) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said. Delhi Police is investigating the matter and no arrests have been made so far.

According to Delhi Police sources, one of the snatchers is from Sultanpuri, while the other one is from Sadar Bazaar. The police sources added that both the criminals reside in Sultanpuri and one of them is a history-sheeter.
